Tapes and Adhesives
PTFE Teflon Tapes
PTFE is an engineering plastic known for its low coefficient of friction, inertness to chemicals, and resistance to heat. With a low friction surface second only to ice, PTFE also boasts outstanding electrical, insulative and dielectric properties.
Reinforced Polytetrafluoroethylene tape (PTFE tape) is tan or brown in color. It is made by coating a fiberglass cloth with PTFE (Teflon). One side is also coated with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive, which permits these tapes to be used at temperatures of 500 degrees F. PTFE tape with acrylic adhesive is also available for lower temperature applications where a solvent resistant, high tack adhesive is required.
This unique combination of materials commonly referred to as “PTFE tape” is also resistant to tears, punctures and abrasions. For these reasons, they are widely used in the packaging (used for covering sealing jaws on L-bar sealers), chemical processing and aerospace industries.
